Origin
It started as a local Instagram page in South Florida sharing open mat calendars. As interest grew, so did the vision. What began as a simple way to help people find places to train evolved into a dedicated platform designed to make jiu-jitsu more connected and easier to explore.
Why we exist
We believe jiu-jitsu is about more than what happens on the mats. It is about community, friendships, and the relationships built through training. As cross-training becomes more common and more accepted, OpenMatLocator is here to support that new era — helping practitioners discover events, visit new gyms, and stay engaged with the wider community.
