How Verification Works
What the verified mark means, what it gets your gym, and how a member's belt rank gets verified.
Who is this gym?
Anyone can find it and show up. We have not confirmed who runs it.
Someone has claimed it and we are checking. It looks the same to visitors while we do.
We confirmed the people running the page are the people running the gym.
Every gym in the directory is in one of three states. The name and the mark are the only things that change between them.

Claiming and verifying are two different steps. Claiming gets you the keys to the page. Verifying is us confirming you are who you say you are, and it unlocks the mark, the higher ticket ceiling, and the ability to verify your members' belts.
Is this belt verified?

Your profile editor
Set your belt rank and home gym, then tap Request verification under Belt & rank.

Your coach's dashboard
The request lands in their gym dashboard, showing your belt and the date you asked. They choose Verify or Deny.

Your public profile
Once verified, your profile shows Verified by [Coach Name] at [Gym Name] under your belt.
Belt rank is self-reported until a coach verifies it. A member requests verification from a coach at their home gym, and the request travels through three screens.
Two things have to be true before the request can be sent: the member's home gym must be verified on Open Mat Locator, and at least one coach must have claimed the gym page. If either is missing, the profile editor says which one. Members can re-request after a promotion or a move to a new home gym.
